Run to Mt. Wilson
Today’s run will take us to Mount Wilson.
Mount Wilson was developed to be a summer retreat and the cooler climate
and rich soil was suited to the establishment of traditional English gardens.

Proceed
in convoy to Visitor Tourist Information Centre, Opposite RAAF Base, Richmond
Road, Clarendon. |

Car Park and turn left onto Castle Hill Road into right hand lane. |

right into New Line Road. Continue
through roundabouts and Lights towards Round Corner Dural. |

Left at roundabout onto Old Northern Road to Round Corner Dural. |

Right at Lights onto Kenthurst Road to Annangrove and follow the road.
Left at first roundabout, and continue through roundabouts, past
Hill Grammar School. |

Left at the Jolly Frog Inn into Macquarie Street, follow signs to
Richmond, Lithgow and Penrith. Proceed
through Windsor, move into right lane. |

Right at Lights onto Richmond Road and proceed through Clarendon. |

Richmond to Bilpin – 9:30 am Start from
Visitor Tourist Information Centre, Opposite RAAF Base, Richmond Road,

Visitors Centre and follow signs to Kurrajong, Bilpin or Lithgow. |

Turn
Left at second set of Lights into East Market Street, and proceed past the
“end of the line”. |

Turn
Right at next Lights onto March Street (it becomes Bells Line of Road).
Follow Signposts to Lithgow and North Richmond.
Continue through Kurmond and up Bellbird Hill to Kurrajong Heights. |

Beware of SPEED CAMERA at top of Bellbird Hill (ensure you are traveling no faster than 60kph before you approach the lookout on right). |

Continue drive through Bilpin, past Mt Tomah.
At around 53 km observe the spectacular sandstone escarpment views
to the left |

Turn
Right to Mount Wilson proceed into Mount Wilson. The
turn off comes with little warning and there is limited space in the
turning bay. Indicate early
and slow down. Once on
the road to Mount Wilson, beware of choppy and narrow road.
Watch for the dramatic change in vegetation as you enter Mount
Wilson area and the hairpin in the 50 km zone. |

at Tulip Tree Tea Rooms (4756 2181) for Brunch. |
After brunch, you are free to explore the
gardens of Mount Wilson or go cruising. The
road to Mount Irvine is pretty in places and choppy, plus there is some
spectacular greenery. Optional
extensions can include, Zig Zag Railway, or beyond Tarana, Oberon or Bathurst.
Return can be via Bells Line of Road, or via Bell, Mt Victoria, and the
Great Western Highway |
