Lunch at Yarramalong Manor Hotel

Route via Wisemans Ferry

Enjoy a day in the Central Coast; a modified version of the Great Northern Loop with lunch at the Yarramalong Manor Hotel, a country pub with a name for good food.  We start at Thompson's Corner, run out through Dural to Wisemans Ferry for morning tea, then across the ferry, up to Peats Ridge, a short run on the F3 north then double back along the Yarramalong valley to the Manor Hotel.  [The hotel is popular at weekends, so organisers should book well ahead if possible.]

Gather:  9:00am at Thompson's Corner

Stage 1:  9:30am - Proceed along New Line Road and Old Northern Road through Dural for morning T/P/Coffee/whatever at the Park by the ferry at Wisemans Ferry.

Stage 2:  11:30pm - Cross on the ferry and turn right for Central Mangrove, Peats Ridge, F3 north then double back along the Yarramalong valley to the Manor Hotel, Yarramalong, for Lunch at 1:00pm - 1:30pm.

Stage 3:  Your choice of route home:

  1. Via Yarramalong Valley: Back along the Yarramalong Valley then home via the F3 or the Old Pacific Hwy.
  2. Via Wiseman’s Ferry: Up Bumble Hill, through Mangrove Mountain, to Wiseman’s Ferry (stop for coffee/T/P/ice cream/ whatever) and home via Dural.
  3. Via Peats Ridge & Old Pacific Hwy: Up Bumble Hill, through Central Mangrove, Peats Ridge to Calga then onto the Old Pacific Hwy thus completing the figure-of eight.

bullet78km - Left at T-junction onto Yarramalong Rd
bullet90km - Right into Yarramalong Manor car park, 20m past Linga Longa Rd on right on slight rise in middle of Yarramalong.  If car park is full, park in Linga Longa Rd.

Shortcut to the Manor Hotel, bypassing the Peats Ridge/F3/Yarramalong Valley section

bullet47km - Left at T-junction into Bloodtree Rd, signposted to Kulnura, Yarramalong & Cessnock. 
(If you miss the turning and reach Central Mangrove, turn left at the crossroads for Kulnura and skip the next instruction.)
bullet51km - Left at T-junction, signposted to Kulnura & Yarramalong.
bullet55km - Right at AMBER PARK STUD T-junction – watch for Paintball Place sign 100m on left before the turning.
(If you miss the turning and reach Kulnura, turn right in Kulnura onto Greta Rd then left at stop/give way sign by the Bumble Hill Studio.)
bullet58km - Straight on at Greta Rd (Bumble Hill Studio on left at junction) down Bumble Hill into Yarramalong
bullet62km - Right at T-junction at bottom of Bumble Hill signposted to Expressway, Wyong.  The Manor Hotel is 50m on left.

 

Stage 3:  Yarramalong back to Sydney – whenever! 

Bumble Hill Studio.

 On your way home, the Bumble Hill Studio on the corner of Greta Rd is well worth a visit.  Open weekends only, it features fine and unusual pottery, glass and paintings.  To get there from the Manor Hotel:

bulletAlmost immediately, turn left up Bumble Hill signposted to Kulnura (nice hill climb for next 4 km.  Good for the digestion!!)
bullet 5.4km - Turn right into Greta Rd and the Studio car park is 20m on your right... enjoy

Optional Routes Home

  1. Back along Yarramalong Rd (left out of hotel car park)
    12km - Right into Old Maitland Rd signposted to freeway
    Back to Sydney via F3 or Old Pacific Hwy
    (to avoid Wyong and Gosford, take the F3 to Calga Interchange and then the Old Pacific Hwy).
  2. Via Wiseman's Ferry
    Exit right from hotel car park onto Yarramalong Rd
    Almost immediately, left up Bumble Hill     signposted to Kulnura (nice hill climb for next 4 km.)
    7.9km   - Left at T-junction into George Downes Drive
    11.3km - Right into Bloodtree Road past Gliding Club
    14.9km - Right at T-Junction signposted to Wiseman's Ferry and follow your nose. (approx 50km to Wiseman's Ferry)
  3. Complete the figure-of-eight via Peats Ridge and the Old Pacific Hwy
    Exit right from hotel car park onto Yarramalong Rd
    Almost immediately, left up Bumble Hill     signposted to Kulnura (nice hill climb for next 4 km.)
    7.9km   - Left at T-junction into George Downes Drive
    16.3km - Right onto Old Pacific Hwy in Peats Ridge
    30.1km - Right

Watch speed limits – Police patrol these side roads constantly at weekends.
